New Service & Cart Delivery – February 2026

As part of the new residential waste services beginning February 1, 2026, residents with cart service will receive new UWS trash, recycling, and organics carts.

Cart deliveries and exchanges will take place during the first three weeks of February 2026

UWS will continue servicing existing carts until exchanges are completed

Additional service details will be shared directly with residents as the transition progresses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Green cart is for yard waste only. Organics waste can go in paper bags or a compostable plastic bag can be used as a liner.
There are several ways to make a payment.

  • Sign up for auto pay.

No, plastic bags cannot be used. Brown paper bags or compostable plastic bags may be used before putting organics into the green organics cart.

Maywood Transition Letter with UWS

Dear City of Maywood Constituent,

Beginning on Sunday, March 1, 2020, the City of Maywood authorized Universal Waste Systems, Inc. (UWS) to provide waste collection services in the community for both residential and commercial properties. It is the goal of UWS to provide consistent and reliable service to the Maywood community.
